Essential Training for Classical Christian Teachers

A seven-part foundational training course in classical Christian education
for grammar and secondary teachers

The Foundations of Classical Christian Excellence series was prepared for the 2017 Repairing the Ruins conference and is currently being expanded and improved for the upcoming 2018 conference. An online course using these materials will be made available to ACCS Member Schools once it is complete. It will be offered each year at the conference with slight variations. Below is a brief introduction.

Introduction

Course 1: Unpack the classical Christian vision
Course 2: From purpose, to objectives, to a plan, to the classroom
Course 3: Beauty matters–Creating a high aesthetic in your school culture
Course 4: Break the subject barrier with the Trivium
Course 5: Classroom management/classroom engagement
Course 6: Tools and sample lessons
Course 7: Capstone: A love of learning–Cultivating virtue, the greatest of which is love

Do you have new teachers who need a crash-course on practical classical teaching?  Or, are you currently teaching and you’ve pieced together ‘classical’, but aren’t sure how it all comes together?  This course is designed to provide a foundational practice in classical k-12 education that will change the way you teach.

We have assembled some of our movements most experienced educators and asked them to build a curriculum for new teachers.  Each course will offer 3-5 takeaways that you can use in your classroom which will help teachers understand how to implement classical pedagogy. The Foundations of Classical Christian Excellence series will be offered each year with slight variations, but with a common syllabus. Grammar and secondary teachers will be divided at times.
